Michael Callaghan has served as Executive Director since 2006. Since 1982, Michael has served in a variety of not-for-profit program and management roles involving education, youth, persons living with aids, housing and self-sufficiency endeavors in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and New York City. He serves on the Board of Directors for Homeless Services United, an advocacy and member organization of not-for-profits addressing homelessness in New York City. He also serves as Executive Director of Nazareth House HDFC, and 721 E 6th Street HDFC and is a member of the Congregation of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Brooklyn.

Phil comes to Nazareth Housing with a strong background in not-for-profit management and program experience. His prior experience has been as Associate Executive Director for the Policy, Planning, and Development with the merged Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau of New York. Prior to the merger, he served as Executive Director of Catholic Home Bureau overseeing an array of programs providing: foster care, maternity services, shelter, and day care programming. Phil is a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State and certified in fundraising as well.

Melissa Beniquez, Operations Manager has completed seven years in providing quality administrative services to the agency and has been a leader in the expansion of Nazareth’s electronic data collection and maintenance projects. Ms. Beniquez is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

Cynthia Barton, our highly successful Senior Housing Specialist, has been with Nazareth Housing since 2003. She assists the families in Tier II family shelter and other low income households in their efforts to identify, secure, and retain safe, affordable, and stable housing. Ms. Barton coordinates the HUD Housing Counseling efforts for Nazareth Housing.

Vivian Cotte, our Coordinator for Mission and Development has a dynamic personality and passion for advancing our mission. A life long resident of New York City she studied English literature at Pace University and she has broad experience in book and magazine publishing, marketing and public relations. She has most recently worked as a consultant in media design, web site development, event planning and management, as well as, fundraising in both for profit and not-for-profit arenas.

Mildred Perez, Social Worker, spearheads the homelessness prevention efforts of the agency, providing case management, family support and the alignment of resources with needs presented by those experiencing housing instability and related issues. Ms. Perez is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

Owen Stemmer came to Nazareth Housing after retiring as the CFO of The Phipps Houses Group after 21 years of service there. He is responsible for the financial operations of the agency and is pleased to continue his work in support of quality housing and supportive services for his fellow New Yorkers.

Jessica Torres, Case Worker, joined Nazareth Housing in 2009. She provides intensive case management services with families in Tier II shelter, along with youth and adolescents in our L3 Kids & L3Youth programming. She has more than a decade of experience working with homeless and mentally ill populations, assisting clients in developing self-sufficiency and stability in housing, family life and employment.

Ivan Becker our IT Manager has been with Nazareth Housing for eight years and oversees our computer lab at CLASS and all computers, servers and IT issues for the agency.
