Free and Professional Tax Preparation and Financial Review

Nazareth Housing helps community members file their city, state and local taxes free of charge! MoneyUP, a bilingual initiative (English/Spanish), provides free and professional tax preparation and financial review to New Yorkers. Since 2009, MoneyUP has returned $2,947,294 in federal and state refunds and Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) to more than 2,200 low-income families and seniors.

The MoneyUP initiative extends from January 24, 2012, through April 20, 2012, as an important feature of Nazareth Housing’s Housing Stability Support Project. New Yorkers are eligible if they earned less than $50,000 and claim dependants in calendar year 2011 or earlier or earned less than $25,000 without claiming dependants.

IRS-certified members of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provide these services:
• Efficient E-file for federal and New York returns.
• Screen for EITC and other tax credits.
• College financial aid applications (FAFSA).
• Apply for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
• Establish direct deposit for refunds into a bank account.
• Review and download credit reports.
• Screen for public benefits.
• Create savings through buying US Savings Bonds.

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is a 12–Step group that focuses on recovery issues for women. Meets Monday 7:00 PM at the Center for Learning And Self-Sufficiency (CLASS).

WOMEN ON THE JOURNEY is a 12 –Step group focusing on recovery issues for women. Meets Saturdays 5:00 PM at the Center for Learning And Self-Sufficiency (CLASS).

UNITY NA a 12 –Step group focusing on recovery issues for men and women. Meets Sundays at 5:00 pm at the Center for Learning And Self-Sufficiency (CLASS).
