Nazareth Housing wants to help you and your family and friends file their taxes free of charge! It is important to file your taxes in order to become eligible for money that the US Government may owe you and to be eligible for certain entitlements.
Beginning January 2, 2010 we will be accepting appointments to help qualified individuals and families file their city, state and federal taxes. As part of the initiative, it is our goal to help families and individuals access their Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The EITC is a government refund in the form of a tax credit to help low-income working individuals and families alleviate financial burdens. Additionally, we will be offering ongoing financial and debt reduction counseling. You qualify for these free services if:
• If your income is less then $50,000 with dependent children or less then $30,000 without dependent children
• If you have a valid Social Security Number
• If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien
NYC School Tax Credit: $145 credit given to all NYC residents who file a state tax return. This credit is available regardless of income.
All retired New Yorkers or people receiving public benefits, who are not being claimed on another person's tax return, should file their taxes and receive this credit.
Example: Through the EITC, a single mother of a child that earns less then $35,463 can receive a possible maximum refund of $3,043.
Call Dory Charlesworth at 212-777-1010 X18 to schedule an appointment. DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE - THE EARLIER YOU FILE THE SOONER YOU GET YOUR MONEY! Remember to bring the follow required documents:
• Valid Photo ID
