Executive Director Michael Callaghan helps lead advocacy efforts with HSU
On Tuesday March 15, Homeless Serviced United (HSU) travelled to Albany once again to carry the message that the homeless families, seniors, youth, and seniors cannot be left to shoulder an undue and damaging burden in state budget cuts and funding re-allocations.  Nazareth Housing Executive Director, Michael Callaghan, serves as President of the Board of Directors of HSU. Michael went to albany along with Cristy Parque, HSU Executive Director, and fellow Board members to help lead the contingent during its intensive advocacy efforts.  Our HSU coalition was represented by all populations of the membership: families, single adults, youth, elderly, disabled, mentally ill and working shelters.  The HSU contingent was 80 people strong, including staff and clients, carrying the message on the need to restore money for homeless programs. We met with over 50 elected officials and their staff and we dropped off literature at other offices.
